What you will do

  • You’ll play a key role in driving platform engineering capability across the organisation, leading from the front both technically and strategically.
  • Lead the design and delivery of cloud-based platforms in AWS.
  • Drive adoption of automation, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices.
  • Support the transformation of legacy workloads into containerised and cloud-native architectures.
  • Act as a technical leader and escalation point for complex platform challenges.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, helping raise capability across the team.
  • Influence standards, tooling, and best practices across the platform function.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and reusable cloud platforms.
  • Implement and optimise CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.
  • Define and enforce engineering standards, patterns, and documentation.
  • Lead on platform support, maintenance, and security compliance.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Continuously improve performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers.
  • Support architectural decisions and solve complex technical challenges.

What we are looking for

  • Strong experience in platform engineering / DevOps environments.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (ideally also exposure to GCP).
  • Strong knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, or similar automation tools.
  • Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines / GitOps environments.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, and microservices architectures.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure, networking, and security principles.
  • Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.

Details

  • Location: Northampton (hybrid – 2 days per week onsite).
  • Salary: £50,000 - 60,000 + up to 15% bonus.
  • Contract: Permanent.
