An aerospace engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Chief Systems Engineer to join its Engineering Leadership Team. This is a senior technical leadership role with airworthiness signatory responsibility, reporting directly to the Site Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will act as a Company Design Signatory and Certification Authority point of contact, ensuring the safety, compliance and technical excellence of aerospace systems across the full product lifecycle.
The Chief Systems Engineer will:
- Provide technical oversight across Integrated Project Teams
- Chair Technical Design Reviews, Change Control Boards and Problem Review Boards
- Serve on the Site Airworthiness Board
- Act as the primary interface with regulators including UK CAA, EASA and FAA
- Review and approve certification artefacts and product documentation
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 and civil certification regulations
- Drive robust engineering risk management and continuous improvement
This role carries independent airworthiness signatory responsibility and requires a high degree of professional maturity, autonomy and commercial awareness.
Key Experience Required
- 15+ years’ experience in aerospace systems engineering
- Extensive experience in avionics systems certification
- Strong knowledge of ED-79B, ED-12C, ED-80 and ED-135
- Experience working with UK CAA, EASA or FAA certification authorities
- Knowledge of CS-ETSO, CS-23/25/27/29, GM and AMC
- Experience chairing design and certification boards
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
