The opportunity

As a Data Steward, you'll own the story of the data: where it comes from, where it goes, and everything that happens to it along the way. Sitting between business users and the technical team, you'll set the standards that turn data into a reliable, valuable asset.

What you'll be doing

  • Building out and maintaining the data catalogue
  • Mapping lineage, transformations and cleansing logic from source to target
  • Partnering with Data Engineering so data is handled and moved correctly
  • Defining practical data quality rules for your datasets
  • Investigating data issues alongside business users and engineers, and pushing for fixes at the root rather than downstream workarounds
  • Becoming the go-to expert for the datasets you look after

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on experience in a data governance or data management programme
  • Strong SQL skills (essential); Python is a bonus
  • Exposure to financial data, such as book of record, transactional, market or reference data
  • A background within Financial Services
  • Working knowledge of data privacy regulation (GDPR, CCPA)
  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or similar is desirable
  • Clear communicator who can translate between business and technical audiences
  • Self-starter who enjoys bringing structure to a function that's still taking shape

Don't tick every box? If the role excites you and you bring relevant transferable skills, we'd still like to hear from you.
