Birmingham
Salary
£50,000 plus bonus and strong benefits package
James Adams is exclusively supporting a highly successful UK professional services organisation as they continue to invest in their technology, governance and information security capability.
This is a newly created senior position offering the opportunity to lead the implementation and long-term ownership of ISO 27001 across a large, complex organisation.
You'll play a pivotal role in designing, embedding and continuously improving the Information Security Management System (ISMS), helping shape the organisation's security governance for years to come.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys building frameworks from the ground up rather than simply maintaining existing processes.
The Opportunity
Working closely with IT, Risk, Operations and senior business stakeholders, you'll take ownership of the ISO 27001 programme from implementation through to ongoing governance and continual improvement.
You'll become the subject matter expert for information security governance, ensuring robust controls are embedded across the organisation while driving a strong culture of security awareness and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation, embedding and ongoing management of the ISO 27001 Information Security Management System (ISMS).
- Own and continuously improve ISO 27001 certification and compliance.
- Develop and maintain ISMS documentation, policies, procedures and security controls.
- Lead internal audits and coordinate external certification audits.
- Drive information security governance and chair relevant governance forums.
- Manage organisational risk assessments, risk registers and remediation plans.
- Work collaboratively with IT, HR, Risk and Operations to embed security best practice.
- Support client and supplier security assurance activities.
- Champion continual improvement across governance, compliance and information security.
About You
We're looking for someone with proven experience implementing and managing ISO 27001 within a medium or large organisation.
You'll ideally bring
- Demonstrable experience implementing or leading ISO 27001 certification.
- Strong knowledge of Information Security Management Systems (ISMS).
- Experience managing governance, audit and compliance activities.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Experience coordinating risk management and security controls.
- A structured, organised approach with excellent documentation skills.
- Experience working within regulated or professional services environments would be advantageous.
Why Apply?
This is an opportunity to join an organisation that is making significant investment in technology, security and governance.
You'll benefit from
- A newly created role with genuine ownership and influence.
- Executive visibility and the opportunity to shape security strategy.
- Competitive salary and bonus.
- Long-term career development within a growing organisation investing heavily in technology and digital transformation.
If you're passionate about information security governance and want the opportunity to build and lead an ISO 27001 programme with long-term ownership, we'd love to hear from you.
