This role is ideal for someone ready to take the next step and could suit a strong Workshop Manager or experienced Aftersales Manager who’s excited by growth, hands‑on leadership, and the opportunity to shape a modern aftersales function.
You’ll play a pivotal role in building processes, developing capability, and creating a customer‑centric aftersales operation that supports retail, fleet and new‑to‑market brands. This role sits within Jameel Motors UK Auto Retail and is at the centre of an exciting new partnership between Jameel Motors and GAC. You’ll be working specifically on the AION brand, supporting its entry into the UK market as GAC’s dedicated electric vehicle line.
About the Role
As Aftersales Manager, you’ll lead performance across service, maintenance, repair, warranty, and customer care, ensuring high standards and commercial results. You’ll build, embed, and evolve scalable aftersales processes suited to a fast‑growth, start‑up environment. You’ll take a hands‑on approach when needed, from Workshop Control to Service Advising, while keeping strategic oversight. You’ll develop and grow a capable aftersales team and proactively source new workshop business. You’ll work closely with leasing partners, brokers, start‑up OEMs, and key commercial stakeholders to strengthen network confidence and capability. You’ll drive service excellence and customer confidence across both retail and fleet channels, backed by data‑led performance management.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver strong aftersales performance by monitoring KPIs such as utilisation, parts performance, customer satisfaction, warranty efficiency, and SMR outcomes.
- Use data and technical insight to understand cost drivers, warranty trends, component longevity, and how SMR impacts TCO and residual values.
- Act as the aftersales lead for leasing companies, brokers, and rental partners, providing clear, data‑driven insight on SMR, reliability, warranty, and EV readiness.
- Build credible relationships with partners, including charging networks and specialist repair providers.
- Ensure the service network is equipped to support NEV products through training, technical development, and EV readiness initiatives.
- Support customers with EV ownership queries, including charging, servicing requirements, and technology updates.
- Create processes that meet the needs of rapidly scaling, new‑to‑market automotive brands.
- Work with senior leadership on long‑term aftersales strategy, designing scalable processes for future products and partnerships.
- Drive continuous improvement across efficiency, cost control, customer satisfaction, and technical capability.
- Ensure compliance with OEM standards, internal governance, and best‑practice operational controls.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in automotive aftersales management (retailer, OEM, importer, or leasing provider).
- Confident managing SMR budgets, analysing technical data, and identifying cost improvements.
- Deep understanding of service operations, warranty processes, and workshop efficiency.
- Strong relationship‑building ability with customers, networks, and commercial partners.
- Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders.
- Experience supporting EV / NEV or hybrid products.
- Exposure to start‑up OEMs or new‑to‑market automotive brands.
- Ability to communicate technical EV concepts clearly to non‑technical audiences.
Personal Attributes
- Strategic, proactive, and commercially aware.
- Credible communicator and confident presenter.
- Analytical, detail‑focused, and comfortable with complex technical data.
- Resilient, adaptable, and thrives in fast‑paced, evolving environments.
