Volunteer Radio Host – Exploring Faith in Glasgow

Jambo! Radio Scotland is a community radio station that celebrates African and Caribbean heritage while creating programmes that inform, inspire and connect people from all backgrounds. Through music, conversation and community-focused content, we aim to encourage understanding, celebrate diversity and provide a platform for stories that matter.

About Exploring Faith

Exploring Faith is a conversation show that looks at how the Christian faith connects with everyday life. Through open conversations with guests from a wide range of backgrounds, we explore topics including culture, identity, sport, mental health, relationships, purpose and much more.

Our aim isn't to have all the answers. It's to create conversations that help people think more deeply about life, hear different perspectives and see how the Christian faith speaks into everyday experiences.

About the role

We're looking for a volunteer host with an active Christian faith who enjoys meeting people, asking good questions and is comfortable holding a conversation in front of a mic. As the host of Exploring Faith, you'll help create a space where guests feel comfortable sharing their stories and listeners are encouraged by honest conversations about faith and everyday life.

Responsibilities

• Finding and inviting guests with interesting stories and experiences to share.
• Preparing for interviews by researching guests
• Liaising with guests before each show to ensure they feel informed and comfortable.
• Leading conversations that help guests tell their stories in a natural and engaging way.
• Helping connect everyday experiences with the Christian faith in a way that is authentic and accessible.
• Working with the Jambo! Radio team to develop ideas for future shows

Qualifications

• Has an active Christian faith and is able to talk naturally about how faith connects with everyday life.
• Is a good listener who can ask thoughtful questions and meaningful follow‑up questions.
• Is comfortable speaking with people from different backgrounds, cultures and stages of life.
• Is happy to speak off the cuff and think on your feet when a conversation goes somewhere unexpected.
• Is reliable, organised and willing to prepare for each show.
• Is open to learning, receiving feedback and developing as a presenter.
• Previous radio or presenting experience is welcome but not essential. If you're willing to learn, we'll provide training, support and encouragement to help you grow into the role.

This is a voluntary role but all relevant expenses like travel will be covered.
