Technical Director

I’m leading a confidential search for a Technical Director to join a successful UK business at a particularly exciting point in its development. This is a significant new appointment, created as the business prepares for its next stage of growth. The business has significant ambitions for growth in the UK, followed by expansion across Europe and ultimately into wider international markets.

The person joining will have the opportunity to become one of the key technical figures shaping that journey. They are looking for genuine depth in HV/EHV cable systems — someone who can still get underneath difficult engineering problems, challenge designs and technical decisions, engage credibly with customers and suppliers, and provide real technical authority to the business. Importantly, they are not looking for a corporate figurehead who has moved away from engineering.

The opportunity is to combine deep technical credibility with genuine influence over how the organisation develops: its technical capability, standards, customer proposition, people and future direction. The title is also not the defining factor. An established Technical Director may be right, but the business is equally prepared to consider an exceptional Chief Engineer, Principal Engineer, Technical Authority or similar individual ready to step into a considerably bigger role.
