I'm working with a well-established construction business based in Elland, Halifax that is looking for a talented Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the financial and commercial management of construction projects from inception to completion. You'll ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of cost planning, estimation, and control throughout the project life-cycle.
- Prepare and review tender documents, contracts and bills of quantities.
- Oversee subcontractor procurement, negotiation and performance management.
- Conduct valuations, variations and final account settlements.
- Provide accurate forecasting and regular financial reporting to senior management.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers and design teams to ensure commercial success.
- Support and mentor junior members of the surveying team.
About You
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (RICS membership desirable).
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, ideally within main contracting or similar construction environments.
- Strong understanding of standard forms of contract (JCT, NEC).
- Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills.
- Commercially astute, proactive and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willing to travel to customer sites in the North.
The salary is £60,000 to £65,000 plus £6,000 Car or Car Allowance and an excellent benefits package.
