Would you like to solve some of the most interesting design challenges in the defence industry today? Due to continued investment, this global business is currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join an international defence company at their site in Preston or Warrington on a 12–month contract.
The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will manage the delivery of engineering and technical activities through the application of process, domain knowledge, and experience. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Assist in effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers, to aid the development of business, resolution of technical and delivery issues, and ensure that the customer is fully briefed and informed of progress.
- Contribute to Project Safety Assessment process.
- Produce, review, and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation, and technical reports as assigned.
- Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions, including process improvements.

To succeed within the role of a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll have experience in a similar position and possess the following skills:
- Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience of design support to construction, operation, refit/repair of conventional and nuclear submarines and/or facilities.
- Competent user in MathCad, AutoCad, and Inventor.
Please note that due to the security nature of this role, we can only consider those who have lived in the UK in the last 5 years and are eligible for SC clearance.
