Overview
The role of the Quality Engineer II is to support the Quality Function in order to achieve a scope of work (Submarine Programme facing) which ensures that the Business Unit remains compliant to the local Quality Business Management System.
Competent Quality professional capable of managing own tasks, delivering results, escalating problem areas.
Conducts Quality activities in accordance with the relevant processes and procedures. Domain areas include, but are not limited to: Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality Assurance, Supplier Improvements, Quality Improvements, Quality Engineering, Quality Reporting, Quality Systems.
Key Deliverables
- Work as a fully contributory member of the Quality team
- Responsible for demonstrating SHE and responsible business behaviours
- Undertake routine Quality Assurance activities in their related area
- Undertake non‑routine and or complex Quality Assurance activities in their related area with minimal supervision
- Manage own development
- Able to access, have a clear understanding of and develop the local Management System documentation e.g. policies, procedures, workmanship standards, risk assessments and processes in their related area
- Liaise / interface with appropriate areas of the business and build effective relationships
- Responsible for conducting internal audits
- Responsible for supporting non‑conformances management
- Responsible for supporting Quality investigations
- The ability to analyse data effectively resulting in themes and corrective actions
- Support requirements relating to certification activities
- Use of Company computer systems and software as appropriate
- The ability to articulate and deliver Quality objectives
- The ability to contribute in team meetings and working groups
- The ability to produce written reports and presentations ensuring accuracy and clarity of meaning
- Support the delivery of results via continuous improvement activities
- Support Submarine programme from a Quality perspective.
- Support delivery of quality requirements within the Submarine Programme
Key Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications
Knowledge
- Understanding and application of ISO 9001/EN9100 and other applicable quality standards
- Understanding of Business Management Systems, the Operational Framework and Operational Assurance process
- Awareness of product safety requirements
- Understand the importance of cross‑functional integration
- Export requirements knowledge (for example International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)) (where applicable)
- Understanding of Auditing to quality standards
- Previous BAE Submarines experience preferred
Skills
- The ability to interpret specifications, procedures and contract requirements
- Working knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies; Fishbone, 5 Why, relationship diagrams, six sigma etc. gathering and analysing evidence cross functionally
- Effective action management and verification
- Effective stakeholder management
- Effective Teamworking
Qualifications
NC or HNC qualified in an appropriate technical discipline or equivalent Quality experience.
