We currently have a vacancy for an experienced CNC machinist to work at our client\’s site in Great Baddow, Chelmsford on a permanent basis.

As a CNC machinist within their manufacturing centre, you will be instrumental in assisting with the delivery of innovative research projects to quality, time and budget. The successful candidate will be liaising with engineering and technical staff within the Laboratories supporting aerospace research/production and this role will provide you with the chance to become involved in challenging activities within a friendly and dynamic environment.

You will be responsible for:

  • Manufacturing small batch / prototype and production components ranging from highly accurate aerospace components through to lab use demonstrator items within time and budget
  • Programming, setting and running 3 axis CNC milling machines using CADCAM software and also via the machine control
  • Operating manual milling machines and lathes.

You:

  • Experienced CNC milling machinist
  • 3D CADCAM programming experience
  • Ability to programme, set and operate different machine tools, as well as operate manual milling machines and lathes
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 Engineering (or equivalent) or higher
  • Apprentice trained
  • Experience of working closely with designers and engineers to assist with the DFM attributes of new hardware design (desirable)
  • Experience of aerospace component manufacture, first article inspection reports etc (desirable)
