Overview
The Youth Development Worker - Penzance role involves supporting young people aged 16–25 within a supported accommodation service in Penzance.
This temporary position, paying £15.34 per hour for 37 hours weekly, runs until September 2026.
You will assist individuals experiencing homelessness to build confidence and develop essential life skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide practical and emotional guidance on housing, finances, wellbeing, education and employment pathways.
- Offer one-to-one support and key worker sessions.
- Create and review personalised support and action plans.
- Complete risk assessments and manage safeguarding concerns.
- Support tenancy sustainment and housing-related needs.
- Assist with benefits applications and financial management.
- Help young people access education, training and employment opportunities.
- Work alongside partner agencies to secure the right support.
- Prepare young people for successful move-on into independent accommodation.
About You
We\'re looking for someone who can build trust, motivate others and remain calm when faced with challenges. You’ll have:
- Experience supporting or engaging with young people.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment and support planning.
- An understanding of mental health, wellbeing and the challenges facing vulnerable young people.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive, resilient and person-centred approach.
