This role is for a Mechanical Design Engineer based in Winchester, working within a multidisciplinary consultancy.
The permanent position offers a salary between £30,000 and £45,000 per annum.
You will deliver sustainable mechanical and electrical design solutions across various sectors, including education, commercial, and healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Produce Mechanical Building Services designs from concept through to detailed design.
- Design HVAC, heating, ventilation, cooling and public health systems.
- Prepare technical calculations, reports, specifications and design documentation.
- Attend client, design and technical coordination meetings.
- Liaise with architects, structural engineers, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Ensure designs comply with current Building Regulations, British Standards and health and safety legislation.
- Provide advice on sustainability, energy efficiency and carbon reduction strategies.
- Carry out building surveys and produce technical reports with recommendations.
- Support the delivery of projects through construction and installation phases.
- Produce and develop designs using industry-standard software including Revit, Auto CAD, IES and Hevacomp.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience within a Mechanical Building Services Design role.
- Consultancy or contractor design experience.
- Knowledge of Mechanical Building Services design principles.
- Experience using industry-standard software such as Auto CAD, Revit, IES and Hevacomp.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- Well organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous.
- A proactive attitude with a desire to continue developing professionally.
