Pertemps Newcastle is recruiting a Water Sampling Technician for Essex and Suffolk Water, based in Caister-on-Sea. This temporary, part-time assignment runs for 14 weeks, offering 20 hours weekly from Monday to Friday, 07:00–11:00, at £15.04 per hour.

You will collect samples from treatment works and reservoirs, ensuring quality standards are upheld. The role suits someone comfortable outdoors and travelling between sites, with strong organisational skills to plan daily routes and deliver samples promptly. Prior experience in sampling or fieldwork is advantageous, though full training is provided. This position requires reliability and attention to detail, contributing directly to public water safety across Suffolk.

About the Role

As a Water Sampling Technician, you will be responsible for collecting water samples from a range of locations including treatment works and reservoirs. Your work will play a vital role in ensuring that water quality standards are met and maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and organise your daily workload to ensure samples are returned to the laboratory within set timescales
  • Perform daily maintenance and calibration of sampling and testing equipment
  • Communicate professionally with customers and site contacts
  • Accurately complete all paperwork and documentation within agreed timeframes

About You

  • Previous water sampling or field-based experience is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong record-keeping skills
  • Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points) is essential
  • Enjoy working outdoors, travelling independently, and interacting with a variety of people
  • Reliable, organised, and motivated to deliver high-quality work
