Reporting to: Warehouse Team Manager

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to oversee shift operations and ensure efficiency, accuracy, and excellent customer service across all warehouse activities. This is a key leadership role where you will lead, motivate, and support a team of operatives, acting as the first point of contact for operational issues. You'll play an important role in maintaining a safe, productive environment while driving continuous improvement and supporting business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations & Performance
    • Oversee daily warehouse operations to maximise efficiency using the WMS
    • Monitor productivity and ensure alignment with operational targets
    • Plan workflows, staffing levels, space utilisation, and equipment layout
    • Pick, pack, and dispatch orders accurately in line with quality standards
    • Coordinate safe loading and unloading of vehicles
    • Maintain stock accuracy through effective receiving and picking processes
    • Support cycle counts, stock takes, stock transfers, and consolidation
    • Provide clear and accurate end-of-shift handovers
  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Lead, coach, and motivate team members to achieve performance targets
    • Train staff to resolve day-to-day operational challenges
    • Induct new and temporary employees effectively
    • Deliver KPI-based feedback and performance reviews
    • Support investigations and disciplinary processes (including note-taking)
    • Manage staffing levels, absence, and leave requests in line with policy
  • Continuous Improvement & Systems
    • Act as a super user of the WMS to drive operational efficiency
    • Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements
    • Collaborate with Team Managers to analyse performance and enhance productivity
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Promote and enforce health and safety standards and legal compliance
    • Conduct pre-shift checks and 'walk and talk' handovers
    • Ensure MHE checks are completed before use
    • Monitor equipment usage and ensure MHE is charged and maintained
    • Secure the warehouse at the end of each shift
  • Communication & Collaboration
    • Liaise with account managers and admin teams to resolve issues efficiently
    • Work collaboratively with other supervisors and managers
    • Maintain high housekeeping standards across the warehouse
  • Additional Duties
    • Carry out any other reasonable duties as required

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in a warehouse supervisory or team leadership role
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations and procedures
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Confident managing performance and delivering direct feedback
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Good knowledge of warehouse health and safety regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)

Qualifications

  • Valid MHE licences (Aisle Master, Counterbalance, PPT)
  • Experience managing MHE fleet and users (preferred)
