Job Overview
As a Van Delivery Driver, you will be the face of the business, delivering fresh cooking oil to the catering industry and collecting used oil to return to the Microsite. Relationship building with customers is key, as our client aims to ensure every order is fulfilled in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner. You’ll also have the opportunity to assist in generating new business during your rounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Pre‑trip inspection of the vehicle to ensure it is in proper working order and complies with safety regulations.
- Regular maintenance of the vehicle to keep it in proper working order and reporting any mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Drive the vehicle safely and efficiently, adhering to traffic laws and all safety regulations and procedures.
- Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring it is secured according to safety regulations.
- Deliver fresh oil to catering and restaurant trade clients and collect used cooking oil.
- Process payments for oil and maintain accuracy of cash/pre‑paid cards.
- Communicate with dispatch and customers to provide updates on delivery times and any issues that arise during transport.
- Accurately record information following oil delivery and/or collection, such as completion of Waste Transfer Notes.
- Report missed or failed deliveries on a daily basis to the Microsite Manager.
- Build and maintain good relationships with current and prospective customers, assisting with sales efforts when required.
Requirements
- A valid UK driving licence with no points or endorsements.
- Proven experience driving vans in the UK (minimum 6 months).
- Excellent communication skills, able to interact effectively with the Transport Office, customers, and other drivers.
- Professionalism: maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
- Customer service orientation: a friendly, positive attitude with a willingness to engage with customers.
- Sales experience (desirable): experience in business‑to‑business sales and achieving sales targets as part of a driving role would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Safety awareness: strong knowledge of vehicle safety and workplace health and safety regulations.
