The Opportunity My client is a large, well-established organisation operating within a highly regulated industrial environment.
Due to continued requirements within their Uttoxeter operation, they are looking to recruit a Logistics Coordinator to join their team.
This is a varied, hands‑on logistics position covering both UK and international shipments, with responsibility for coordinating transport, preparing documentation, managing goods in and out, and supporting day‑to‑day warehouse activities.
The role would suit someone with previous experience in logistics, warehousing, distribution, shipping or goods‑in/goods‑out who is comfortable combining administrative responsibilities with practical warehouse duties.
You'll be working with a range of internal teams and external logistics providers to ensure goods are prepared, documented and transported safely and efficiently by road, air and sea.
What you’ll be doing
As Logistics Officer, you’ll take responsibility for coordinating the movement of goods both domestically and internationally.
Your responsibilities will include
- Coordinating UK and international logistics activities, including arranging shipments and collections
- Liaising with approved freight and logistics providers to organise transportation by road, air and sea
- Preparing and maintaining accurate shipping, transport, customs and export documentation
- Supporting the transportation of regulated and dangerous goods, ensuring the correct documentation and procedures are followed
- Working alongside the company’s Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) to ensure activities comply with current transport legislation and requirements
- Preparing consignments for dispatch, including packaging, labelling, palletising and securing goods appropriately
- Managing goods‑in and goods‑out, including receiving deliveries, checking products, storing materials and preparing outgoing consignments
- Ensuring shipments are correctly identified and documented before leaving site
- Operating forklift trucks and other mechanical handling equipment to safely load, unload and move goods around the facility
- Monitoring stocks of packaging, pallets and other materials required for dispatch
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe warehouse and logistics environment
- Working closely with colleagues across the wider operation to ensure materials and products are available when required
- Helping identify and resolve any issues that could impact deliveries, collections or shipping schedules
- What we’re looking for
My client is looking for someone who is organised, dependable and comfortable working in an environment where safety, accuracy and compliance are extremely important.
You’ll ideally have
- Previous experience within logistics, warehousing, distribution, shipping or a similar operational environment
- Experience with goods‑in/goods‑out, dispatch or stock movements
- A valid forklift truck licence
- Good knowledge and appreciation of manual handling and warehouse safety
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage several activities at the same time
- Good written and verbal communication skills, as you’ll regularly deal with colleagues, transport providers and other stakeholders
- Good general IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Confidence learning and working with bespoke software and database systems
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team
- A careful and methodical approach to paperwork and documentation
- Previous knowledge of ADR and/or IATA regulations relating to the transportation of dangerous goods would be particularly useful
However, this is not essential, as relevant training can be provided.
