The Trunk Sewer Technician position in Hammersmith covers North West London, joining the Strategic Pumping & Trunks Operations Team.
This full-time role offers a starting salary of £30,000 per annum.
Responsibilities include planned, emergency, and defect maintenance across the trunk sewer network, alongside physical upkeep of assets such as penstock gates.
The work involves operating plant equipment, cleaning, basic mechanical maintenance, and fault-finding.
Candidates must be comfortable with confined space entry, working at heights, and manual lifting in challenging subterranean settings.
Prior experience in sewer operations or mechanical maintenance is advantageous, though full training on specific systems is provided.

We are currently hiring for a Trunk Sewer Technician to join our Strategic Pumping & Trunks Operations Team covering North West London.
- What you’ll be doing as a Trunk Sewer Technician
- Complete planned, emergency and defect maintenance of the trunk sewer network.
- Physical maintenance of the sewer network and associated assets, e. g. penstock gates.
- Operation of plant and equipment.
- Cleaning, basic maintenance and fault-finding.
- Base location: Hammersmith (PS), W6 9RS
Working hours: 38 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 6:30 am – 3:45 pm; with 1 week out of 5 on the night shift from 9:00 pm - 5:30 am; with opportunity to be included on the standby rota, for which you will also receive an additional payment.
What should you bring to the role?
You must be physically fit and prepared to work in a challenging environment daily, as you will complete manual handling activities to operate large mechanical assets and perform grounds maintenance.
Have a proactive approach to your work and demonstrate that you can work positively and effectively within a team environment.
You will need to be a keen and motivated team member, able to demonstrate initiative and a flexible approach to work.
For health and safety reasons, you will be required to be clean-shaven to wear respiratory protective equipment (RPE) correctly.
- Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring
- Previous experience in maintenance or a similar role would be advantageous.
- A valid UK driving licence is ideal but not essential; HGV training can be provided.
