Teach South Kent is looking for a dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in schools within the Tonbridge area. This temporary position offers a daily rate between £98 and £108, with flexible full‑time or part‑time hours available. The role involves providing 1:1 or small‑group support, implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), fostering an inclusive classroom environment, and encouraging each child’s academic and personal progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 or small‑group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies
  • Support pupils with communication, social, emotional, and behavioural needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to adapt learning activities
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
  • Help maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant or supporting pupils with SEND in a school setting
  • Understanding of a range of special educational needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs)
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEND support are desirable but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
