Job Overview

The Secondary School Teaching Assistant position with Teach South in Tonbridge and Bexhill, East Sussex, is a full-time role starting September 2025.

The daily salary is £105, paid weekly via PAYE.

This position supports children and young people with a wide range of additional learning needs.

Your Role

As a Teaching Assistant you will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to provide consistent support throughout the school day.

Responsibilities

  • Support students during lessons, both individually and in small groups.
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson preparation.
  • Encourage student engagement, confidence, and independence.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs where required.
  • Help promote positive behaviour and a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, caring, and a commitment to helping young people succeed.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Reliability, adaptability, and proactivity.
  • Previous experience working with young people or in education (desirable but not essential).
  • Degree or relevant qualification (beneficial but not required).
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Care Worker, Youth Worker, Nursery Practitioner or graduate interested in education, psychology or therapy.
