Job Description
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager will lead the purchasing, supplier management and stores functions, ensuring the reliable and cost-effective supply of materials and services.
Working closely with Production, Operations and Finance, you will manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, oversee inventory, drive continuous improvement and maintain AS9100 compliance.
This is a key leadership role with the opportunity to influence sourcing strategy and support business growth.
- Role and Responsibilities
- Lead all purchasing activities for stock and non-stock items using ERP/MRP systems
- Develop strong supplier relationships and manage supplier performance
- Negotiate pricing, contracts and commercial terms
- Ensure material availability to support production schedules
- Manage stock levels, inventory accuracy and stores operations
- Lead and develop the Stores team
- Conduct supplier audits and maintain AS9100 compliance
- Monitor subcontractor performance and order progression
- Produce reports on purchasing activity, supplier KPIs and cost-saving initiatives
- Deliver process improvements and cost reduction projects
- Manage site service contracts and key suppliers
- Support strategic sourcing, new product introduction and business growth initiatives
About You
- Proven experience in a senior Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain Management role within manufacturing
- CIPS Level 5 qualified or working towards qualification
- Strong understanding of supplier management, procurement and inventory control
- Experience working within an AS9100 environment or similar regulated manufacturing sector
- Skilled in negotiating contracts and commercial terms
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems
- Previous people management experience
- Track record of driving process improvements and cost savings
- Strong commercial awareness, communication and organisational skills
Desirable
- CIPS Level 6 or progression towards MCIPS
- Experience supporting strategic sourcing and business growth projects
- Knowledge of subcontractor management
