The Education Network Birmingham is recruiting a Design Technology Teacher for a secondary school in Telford, commencing in September 2026. This full‑time, long‑term temporary position focuses on Resistant Materials, Construction and Engineering across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Teach Design Technology across KS3 and KS4, with a focus on Resistant Materials, Construction and Engineering.
  • Deliver engaging practical and theory‑based lessons that develop students’ technical knowledge, problem‑solving abilities and design skills.
  • Plan and deliver lessons, assess student progress and prepare pupils for vocational and GCSE‑level qualifications.
  • Maintain workshop safety standards and support pupils in the successful completion of practical projects.
  • Encourage creativity, innovation and independent thinking while helping students understand the real‑world applications of design, construction and engineering principles.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification (ECTs are welcome to apply).
  • Have experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level.
  • Be confident delivering Resistant Materials, Construction and/or Engineering subjects at KS3 and KS4.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom and workshop management skills.
  • Have a sound understanding of health and safety requirements within practical learning environments.
  • Be passionate about developing students’ technical and vocational skills.
  • Be committed to supporting pupil progress and achievement.
