Manpower UK is seeking an HGV Driver C1 for a temporary role based in St. Helens, offering up to £16.00 per hour. The position involves operating a 7.5‑tonne vehicle to deliver fresh cooking oil to catering clients and collect used oil for return to the micro site. Working Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 20:00, this is a job‑and‑finish role on an accumulative weekly hours basis, with flexibility required to complete daily tasks safely. Drivers serve as the business’s representative, building strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Driving an HGV C1 vehicle on planned routes
- Collecting used cooking oil from restaurants and businesses
- Delivering fresh supplies where required
- Completing around 15‑25 stops per day
- Providing friendly, professional customer service
- Handling barrels (physical role)
Requirements:
- 7.5 tonne Driving Licence
- DCPC Digital Tacho card
Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience driving 7.5 tonne vehicles in the UK, with a solid understanding of road laws and regulations (minimum 6 months)
- Excellent communication skills: ability to communicate effectively with the Transport Office, customers, and other drivers
- Professionalism: maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times
- Customer Service Orientation: friendly, positive attitude with willingness to engage with customers to enhance their experience
- Sales Experience (Desirable): business‑to‑business sales experience and ability to achieve sales targets
- Safety Awareness: strong knowledge of vehicle safety and workplace health and safety regulations
- Problem‑Solving Ability: ability to handle unexpected situations and demonstrate problem‑solving skills
- Attention to Detail: keen eye for detail, particularly when handling documents
- Reliability and flexibility: strong work ethic, reliability, and flexibility with work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays if needed
