THE ROLE
We are currently seeking a SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER to join our client based in Stockton-on-Tees.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing firm of consulting engineers who offer the right candidates interesting projects to work on and good prospects for promotion.
You will be able to work on an interesting range of projects which will include buildings for schools, offices, residential, industrial, hospitals, waste handling and recycling plants and some decarbonisation projects.
You will be responsible for doing structural engineering design and ensuring compliance with industry standards and current UK regulations.
You will oversee the production of technical drawings, calculations and specifications and you will collaborate with multi-discipline teams to develop integrated design solutions.
You will also need experience to help mentor less experienced engineers.
You must be able to build good client relationships.
THE CLIENT
Our client is a successful, growing firm of consulting engineers with a number of UK offices.
- THE CANDIDATE
- You must have a BSc in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering and ideally have an MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering would be useful although not essential.
- You should have around five years experience with a firm of civil / structural consulting engineers if you are Chartered or if you are still working towards becoming chartered then you will need around eight years or more experience.
- You are likely to either be working towards becoming chartered or have already achieved chartered status e. g. CEng, MICE, MIStruct E etc.
- You will need good broad based structural engineering design experiene to be able to do design and assessment of concrete, masonry, steel and also timber structures.
- You should have used structural engineering software e. g. Tekla Structural Designer or similar.
- Good experience in the use of Excel and TEDDS and experience of detailing packages e. g. Auto CAD andamp; Revit.
- You also need to have experience of doing structural condition surveys and report writing.
- You must have worked in the UK for another firm of consulting engineers and have excellent knowledge and experience of using UK codes and regulations.
- A full UK driving licence is required along with your own vehicle to enable you to attend meetings and get to sites, some of which may be fairly remote.
