Overview

The Education Network Birmingham is seeking a SEND Teacher to join a specialist school in Birmingham, working with a Key Stage 2 class of pupils who have complex learning needs.

This full-time role offers a salary between £32,916 and £45,352 per annum.

The successful candidate will deliver creative, individualised lessons for children with Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties, and communication challenges.

You will be supported by experienced Teaching Assistants within a well-resourced environment.

The role requires a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to helping each child build confidence and make progress.

Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt teaching are essential for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering differentiated lessons as a SEND Teacher for a Key Stage 2 class.
  • Creating a positive, structured, and stimulating learning environment that promotes engagement and progress.
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants to deliver consistent support and interventions.
  • Using skills as a SEND Teacher to implement strategies that meet the needs of pupils with Autism, MLD, and other complex needs.
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, families, and external professionals.
  • Supporting the emotional regulation and communication development of pupils.
  • Using creative teaching approaches and sensory activities to promote understanding and independence.
  • Monitoring progress, maintaining detailed records, and contributing to EHCP reviews.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and sharing best practice as a valued SEND Teacher within the team.
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school and helping shape a positive, inclusive ethos.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience as a SEND Teacher or a teacher passionate about moving into special education.
  • Strong understanding of strategies to support students with complex learning needs.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
  • A patient, creative, and compassionate approach to teaching.
  • Commitment to supporting children to overcome barriers and achieve personal and academic goals.
