The SENCO position in Birmingham is a full‑time role at a dedicated special school. Salary is between £46,940 and £54,300 per annum.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with Autism and Moderate Learning Needs.
  • Oversee EHCPs, annual reviews and SEND documentation.
  • Work closely with teachers to develop high‑quality, differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and ensure appropriate interventions are in place.
  • Provide training, guidance and best practice support to staff in SEND.
  • Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals.
  • Contribute to whole‑school improvement and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status and the appropriate SENCO qualification.
  • Previous experience working within a SEND or specialist setting.
  • Strong understanding of Autism and Moderate Learning Needs.
  • Experience supporting Key Stage 3 and 4 students.
  • Excellent organisational, leadership and communication skills.
  • A proactive, compassionate and collaborative approach.
