Role

The Tug Driver Flixborough role, based in Scunthorpe, involves safely moving trailers, cages, stillages, and materials across the site using a tug vehicle.

Your primary duty is to ensure operational activities run smoothly by transporting loads securely and conducting daily vehicle safety checks, reporting any defects promptly.

A CHIPS qualification is advantageous, though full training will be provided for suitable candidates.

This contract position offers a competitive hourly rate of £14.50, rising to time and a half after eight hours and on weekends, with double time on bank holidays.

Working patterns are varied, and you will operate strictly in line with site procedures and health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate tug vehicles safely in line with site procedures and health and safety standards.
  • Move trailers, dollies, cages, and materials throughout the site as required.
  • Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects promptly.
  • Ensure loads are securely connected and transported safely.
  • Support warehouse, logistics, and production operations to meet daily targets.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete relevant documentation.
  • Follow traffic management plans and designated routes.
  • Carry out general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe working environment.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience operating a tug, tow tractor, or similar vehicle is preferred.
  • Valid tug driving licence or relevant certification (where applicable).
  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices.
