Pertemps Network Catering is seeking a School Catering Assistant / General Assistant to join school sites across Birmingham. This part‑time role runs Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm, with a salary of £12.71 per hour paid weekly. You will support kitchen teams in preparing and serving meals, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a welcoming environment for pupils. Ideal candidates are friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic, with experience in catering settings.

Shifts & Location

Monday to Friday between 10am – 2pm, across the Birmingham area.

Responsibilities

  • Food preparation and basic kitchen duties
  • Serving meals to pupils and staff
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Washing up and keeping kitchen areas organised
  • Supporting the catering team during busy service periods

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Catering Assistant, Kitchen Porter, General Assistant, Food Service Assistant or similar role
  • Food Safety Level 2 Certificate (training can be offered)
  • Food Allergen Awareness Certificate (training can be offered)
  • Safeguarding Training (training can be offered)
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (processing can be performed)
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment
  • Positive attitude and commitment to excellent customer service
