The Head of Employment Warwickshire leads a busy practice for a national firm, based in Warwickshire. This full-time, permanent role commands a salary between £125,000 and £275,000 annually. You will manage daily operations, mentor legal professionals, and drive team growth while handling a varied caseload. The position requires a qualified solicitor with substantial experience in employment law, including contentious and non-contentious matters. Strategic thinking, commercial awareness, and strong client relationship skills are essential. You will also contribute to business development and maintain the firm's reputation.
This leadership position suits a lawyer seeking to influence practice direction while continuing their own client work.
The Opportunity
The firm is looking to appoint a Head of Employment to lead an already busy and well-established team. You will take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and development of the department, working closely with the wider firm's leadership team to identify opportunities for continued growth. The team already has an excellent platform, meaning you can focus on leading, developing and growing the practice, rather than starting from scratch.
Your role will include:
- Leading and developing an established Employment team
- Managing a high-quality caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters
- Advising a broad range of businesses and organisations
- Developing and strengthening existing client relationships
- Identifying opportunities for further business development and growth
- Acting as a key point of contact for major clients
- Mentoring and developing junior members of the team
- Supporting recruitment as the department continues to grow
About You
The firm is looking for an experienced Employment Solicitor with the technical expertise, leadership ability and commercial approach to take the department forward. You may already be a Partner, Head of Department or senior Employment Lawyer who is ready to take on greater responsibility.
You will ideally have:
- Significant experience across employment law
- Strong contentious and/or non-contentious employment experience
- Previous experience of leading, managing or mentoring a team
- A strong commercial approach and excellent client-care skills
- A proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships
- Business development experience and a desire to grow a practice
- A strong reputation within the Warwickshire and wider Midlands market
Why Consider This Role?
This is an opportunity to take the reins of an already busy Employment practice, with the infrastructure and support of a national law firm behind you. You won't be walking into an empty office and being asked to build a team from scratch. You'll inherit an established team, existing work and a strong platform from which to grow. For the right individual, there is significant scope to develop the department further, strengthen its market position and make a real impact on the firm's wider Warwickshire offering. If you're an ambitious Employment Lawyer looking for a leadership role where you can lead an established team, develop the practice and make your mark, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
