System Optimisation Analyst – Reading

As a Systems Optimisation Analyst based in Reading, you will help maintain a reliable water supply for more than 16 million customers.

You will support the System Optimisation Engineers in managing the operation of the clean water network, working across Production, Leakage and Network teams to improve service quality and regulatory compliance.

This is a full‑time, up‑to‑12‑month secondment/fixed‑term contract with possible permanency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, investigate and help resolve pressure issues, customer complaints and operational escalations.
  • Analyse operational data and identify trends to support network performance and decision‑making.
  • Support engineering and customer‑led projects across the clean water network.
  • Assist with managing unplanned operational events to minimise disruption for customers.
  • Help complete operational risk assessments and support safe delivery of network activities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret operational data.
  • Awareness of hydraulic principles or experience using mapping or Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with a range of internal stakeholders.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of the water industry or other operational utility environments would be beneficial.
  • Working Conditions

Base location: Kemble Court, Reading.

Hybrid role: 2 days remote, 3 days in office or on site with the Network team.

Working hours: Monday‑Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Regular office days on Thursdays; other days flexible.
