The Power Strategy Manager, based in Reading, sets the strategic direction for Thames Water's new Power Resilience team. This full-time role involves developing the multi-AMP power roadmap alongside the Head of Power. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to prioritise investment targets and drive innovation, digitisation, and reporting. The position demands strong strategic planning abilities and experience in power systems or critical infrastructure. You will shape how power is managed across operations, ensuring safe, reliable services for millions of customers. Power Resilience is critical to Thames Water's ability to provide safe, reliable services to millions of customers. We are expanding our Power Resilience capability to enhance how power is planned, maintained and improved across our operations. We are looking for talented individuals to join this growing team and help build a coordinated, data-led approach to managing Power Resilience across Thames Water.
Key responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Organisational Capability: You will lead, motivate and develop a team of professionals to achieve high performance and support future internal capability development.
- Power Strategy and Transformation: You will work to drive creation, implementation and adoption of strategic initiatives to deliver resilient, compliant and data-driven power operations across Thames Water.
- Data, Insight and Digital Transformation: You will drive initiatives to enable real-time visibility and analytics of power-related data that can be used to prioritise Power Resilience interventions.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Cross-Portfolio Integration: You will proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. DNOs, NESO, Ofgem) to influence infrastructure planning, delivery of business objectives and regulatory compliance.
What you should bring to the role:
- Senior management experience in utilities or a related sector with a proven track record in leading large-scale, multi-disciplinary teams and strategic programmes.
- Strong understanding of regulatory environments and compliance frameworks and ability to adapt to changing regulations as required.
- Demonstrated ability to influence at senior levels and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in driving digitisation and process improvement initiatives.
- Experience with HV/LV systems and auxiliary power systems (desirable).
The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role is:
- Competence in electrical engineering design or relevant industry experience with ability to interpret and develop technical documentation and standards.
- Advanced knowledge of digitisation, data management and analytics.
- Supplier and contract management.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to approve prepared and reviewed documentation ready for wider approval.
