Summary
The Management Accountant role in Reading (held by Pertemps Thames Water) delivers precise financial reporting and analytical insights for the Water business. The role leads monthly management accounts close, prepares journals, performs balance sheet reconciliations and ensures data integrity, while collaborating with stakeholders to drive process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly management accounts close for the Water business.
- Prepare and review journal entries, automate where possible.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations of key control data (GL balances, accruals, provisions, prepayments, inventory).
- Provide assurance and commentary for Leakage, OSCC, SCOPI and Water Networks Capex Reclass.
- Close Water Management Accounts and produce reconciliation documentation.
- Review end‑to‑end processes and propose improvements with the finance team.
- Use the Activity‑Based Costing model for Water Networks to split operating and capital costs.
- Prepare Water Networks Capitalisation audit documentation and coordinate year‑end audit.
- Produce Leakage regulatory tables and monitor external reporting requirements.
- Respond to ad‑hoc analytics requests through the demand‑management framework.
- Support Business Partners with cost visibility, business‑case preparation and performance investigation.
Qualifications
- Accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, CPA, CMA, CHAE or equivalent).
- Experience with SAP (preferred); experience with HFM is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and tax reporting.
- Excellent understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
- Ability to summarize and present financial information clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Experience in the utilities sector is desirable.
