As an Electrical Technician in Reading you will join the Maintenance teams to inspect, fault‑diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment. This full‑time role offers a salary up to £42,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the health, safety and well‑being of yourself, colleagues, contractors and visitors by complying with Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water’s guidelines.
  • Undertake reactive and planned maintenance, respond to alarms and fault‑find to identify issues, fix or raise them for escalation.
  • Maintain safety standards and deliver efficient, timely repairs.
  • Record work and asset information to improve business performance, identify possible future risks and recommend changes.
  • Provide specialist technical advice, up‑to‑date technical knowledge and coach/train staff, including the apprenticeship programme.
  • Deliver excellent customer experience and interact with customers (internal & external) in a timely, professional and respectful manner.

Qualifications

  • Time‑served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or NVQ or C&G Level 3 in electrical engineering (18th Edition preferred; training can be given).
  • Problem‑solving skills, able to identify potential issues, implement solutions or escalate when required.
  • Excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to Internal and External staff and contractors.
  • Resilient, able to work with minimum supervision and under own initiative to design and standards.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
  • Team player, able to work in many different teams, showing respect for others and supporting development of others.
  • Full UK driving licence.
