The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a CAD / BIM Technician to join a major engineering and construction project in Cornwall, working within a multidisciplinary Engineering Services team.
This role will suit a CAD / BIM Technician, Revit Technician, BIM Technician or MEP Technician with strong experience in Auto CAD and Revit who is looking to work on a major, technically complex project.
You will be responsible for producing accurate 2D drawings and coordinated 3D BIM models, supporting the delivery of electrical and building services systems from design through to construction.
Working closely with engineers, designers, contractors and supply chain partners, you will play an important role in ensuring designs are coordinated, technically accurate and delivered to the required standards.
The position offers the opportunity to develop your digital engineering expertise while working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed 2D CAD drawings and 3D BIM models using Auto CAD and Revit.
- Develop and maintain coordinated models for electrical and building services systems.
- Support multidisciplinary coordination across electrical, mechanical, structural and civil disciplines.
- Carry out model reviews, clash detection and design coordination using BIM processes.
- Ensure drawings and models comply with project standards, specifications and relevant industry requirements.
- Work alongside engineers, designers, project teams and supply chain partners to resolve design and coordination issues.
- Contribute to BIM delivery in accordance with project BIM Execution Plans and information management requirements.
- Maintain accurate project information and ensure drawings and models are delivered within agreed timescales.
- Support continuous improvement of CAD, BIM and digital engineering processes.
- Assist with the production and management of technical information throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
We are looking for a technically capable and detail-focused CAD / BIM Technician who is comfortable working within a multidisciplinary construction or building services environment.
You will ideally have
- Previous experience working as a CAD Technician, BIM Technician, Revit Technician, MEP Technician or similar.
- Strong working knowledge of Auto CAD and Revit.
- Experience producing 2D technical drawings and 3D BIM models.
- An understanding of BIM processes, model coordination and multidisciplinary design.
- Experience within building services, MEP, engineering or construction environments.
- A relevant Level 5 qualification or above in Building Services, Electrical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous.
- Experience with Navisworks, Plant3D, Civil 3D, Micro Station or Project Wise would be beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate technical information.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, designers and wider project teams.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and an interest in developing digital engineering skills.
