Pertemps Southampton is seeking a Logistics Technician for a client based in Newport, on a full-time, temporary contract initially lasting three months, with potential for extension. The pay rate is Β£13.36 per hour, with payments made weekly or monthly, and a start date as soon as possible.
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, you will support daily stores and inventory operations, covering receipt, storage, picking, and dispatch of goods. Your duties include checking incoming deliveries for accuracy and booking them into the system. We require an experienced professional from a stores, logistics, or inventory background who is comfortable working within a structured team environment to maintain stock integrity.
Pertemps Isle of Wight are currently recruiting for a Logistics Technician to join our client on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Stores, Logistics or Inventory professional to join a busy team.
The successful candidate will support the management of stock and inventory, including the receipt, storage, picking and dispatch of goods. The Role Reporting directly to the Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the stores and inventory function.
Key responsibilities
- Receiving incoming deliveries and ensuring goods are accurately booked into stock
- Checking delivery documentation and ensuring all required documentation, including Certificates of Conformance, is received
- Completing accurate inspection records and reporting supplier performance where required
- Safely packing finished goods and other materials for dispatch
- Ensuring correct documentation accompanies shipments
- Picking stock against works orders to support production requirements
- Receiving internally produced items into stock and carrying out relevant checks
- Maintaining accurate stock levels and material traceability using SAP B1 and other in-house systems
- Supporting stock counts and reconciliation of inventory
- Maintaining an organised, safe and tidy stores environment
- Helping to maximise the effective use of stores space and improve stock flow
- Supporting the development and improvement of operational processes
- Participating in process audits and continuous improvement activities
About You
- Previous experience within logistics, stores, stock control or inventory management
- Experience working with an ERP or stock management system
- Good computer skills
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Experience working with couriers and shipping agents
- The physical capability to lift and move boxes of stock
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
- The ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload
- The ability to work with minimum supervision and use your own initiative
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A flexible and conscientious approach to work
You will take pride in maintaining high standards, have good attention to detail and be comfortable working in a structured and organized environment.
