Location: Milan, Italy

Salary: Up to €85,000 + Package

Sector: Data Centres / Critical Infrastructure

Employment: Permanent

We're working with a leading engineering contractor delivering a major data centre project in Milan, and they're looking to appoint an experienced Senior BMS Engineer to take ownership of the technical delivery. This is a hands-on senior role for someone who can take a functional specification, coordinate the engineering and subcontractors, and make sure the finished BMS system works exactly as intended.

The Role

  • You'll take ownership of Tier 2 engineering and design submittals, including:
    • Tier 2 submittals
    • I/O and data point lists
    • Equipment schedules and schematics
    • Device and wiring layouts
    • Panel design and interlocks
    • Functional specifications
    • Demonstration and acceptance documentation
    • O&M documentation

You'll ensure mechanical equipment submittals meet project requirements and translate functional specifications into fully operational BMS systems. You'll also be involved in off-site testing, change control and design coordination, ensuring changes are properly recorded and auditable throughout the project.

During Construction

  • You'll have responsibility for coordinating the BMS subcontractor and supporting the wider project team, including:
    • Managing the subcontractor team on a day-to-day basis
    • Monitoring programme, deliveries, engineering issues and quality
    • Supporting site safety and training requirements
    • Attending technical and progress meetings
    • Participating in W1, W2 and W3 site walkdowns
    • Coordinating engineering issues with the wider construction team

Testing, Commissioning & Handover

As the project progresses towards completion, you'll support the full testing, commissioning and handover process, including:

  • Ensuring testing and commissioning follows the project Quality Plan
  • Certifying live BMS systems ahead of handover
  • Demonstrating systems to the client and relevant stakeholders
  • Delivering O&M manuals and record drawings
  • Supporting demobilisation and final handover
  • Producing project close-out documentation

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced BMS Engineer operating at Senior level, ideally with a background in:

  • Data centres
  • High-tech buildings
  • Critical infrastructure
  • Large-scale commercial or industrial projects

You should be technically strong, comfortable working autonomously and experienced in coordinating BMS engineering, design and specialist subcontractors. The ideal candidate will be someone who can take ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do - with strong attention to detail and a genuine understanding of how BMS systems need to operate within complex mechanical and electrical environments.

Additional Information: Consideration will be given to candidates belonging to protected categories under Italian Law 68/99. If you're an experienced BMS Engineer looking for a major data centre project in Milan, get in touch for a confidential discussion and further details.
