A Mig/Tig Welder position is available in Solihull, offering £15.00 to £17.00 per hour depending on experience. This full-time role follows a Monday to Thursday schedule from 7:00am to 3:30pm, with an early finish at 1:00pm on Fridays. The contract starts as temporary with a permanent placement available for the right person. Working within a well-established engineering firm, the successful candidate will fabricate components from technical drawings, handling various metals in a production setting. The Role
As a MIG/TIG Welder, you will be responsible for producing high-quality welded components while working from engineering drawings and specifications. You will be working with a variety of metals in a busy fabrication environment, ensuring all work meets quality standards.
Duties
- MIG and TIG welding to a high standard
- Welding aluminium, zinc, stainless steel, mild steel and other ferrous and non-ferrous metals
- Fabricating and assembling metal components
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Producing both bespoke and batch work
- Grinding, linishing and finishing welded products
- Inspecting completed welds to ensure quality standards are met
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Following health and safety procedures at all times
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience as a MIG/TIG Welder
- Experience welding aluminium is essential
- Experience working with zinc, stainless steel, mild steel and other metals is highly desirable
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual and committed to long-term work
Successful candidates will be required to complete an on-site practical MIG/TIG weld test as part of the interview process. Only applicants who successfully pass the weld test will be considered for the position.
