Overview

The Mechanical CAD Design, Subsea Umbilical role based in Barrow‑in‑Furness offers a permanent position with a salary between £45,000 and £68,000 per annum.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop low and high voltage subsea electrical and optical connectors, pressure housings, and sealing systems.
  • Perform FEA mechanical, thermal, and pressure simulations for high‑pressure high‑temperature (HPHT) deep‑sea environments.
  • Conduct prototype testing, pressure testing, and standard qualification.
  • Prepare detailed documentation including design specifications, qualification test procedures, 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and test reports.
  • Participate in design reviews, peer reviews, RCAs, FMEAs, d FMEAs, and p FMEAs throughout development cycles.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with electrical, mechanical, and production teams.
  • Create technical 2D drawings.

Qualifications

  • Subsea or offshore mechanical system design experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and FEA tools.
  • Knowledge of subsea production systems, umbilicals, jumpers, and electrical or fibre connectors.
  • Understanding of sealing technologies, pressure‑rated designs, and mechanical‑electrical interface design.
  • BEng or MEng in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
