A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced HV Commissioning Engineer to join a major transmission infrastructure programme, initially supporting SSEN projects before moving onto SPEN frameworks.

The Opportunity

  • Location: Manchester
  • Duration: 12-Month Contract + Extensions
  • Rate: £750-£850 per day (Outside IR35, All-In)
  • Immediate Start Available
  • Working Hours: Monday-Friday (10-hour days, early finish Fridays) + optional weekend work

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead commissioning activities on HV/EHV substations (132kV-400kV)
  • Carry out protection, control and SCADA testing
  • Develop commissioning procedures and test documentation
  • Support energisation, handover and project delivery
  • Ensure compliance with SSEN/SPEN safety standards

Requirements

  • SSEN or SPEN Authorisation
  • SSE Cat 1 & Cat 3 Authorisation
  • Proven HV/EHV substation commissioning experience
  • Strong knowledge of protection relays, control systems and SCADA
  • Experience working under UK DNO/TSO safety rules
