The senior leadership role is responsible for shaping strategy, improving operational resilience, strengthening governance, and ensuring technology services support the wider business effectively.
An established UK organisation is investing heavily in its technology function and seeks a Head of Infrastructure Engineering & Operations to lead the transformation of its infrastructure services.
As Head of Infrastructure Engineering & Operations you will provide technical leadership across the organisation’s infrastructure estate, ensuring platforms are secure, scalable, commercially effective and aligned to business objectives. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and third‑party partners to improve service quality, embed governance, and deliver a more resilient infrastructure environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership across all infrastructure platforms.
- Establish clear ownership across infrastructure domains.
- Improve platform resilience, stability and overall service performance.
- Drive measurable improvements in availability, recovery capabilities and operational maturity.
- Reduce major incidents through proactive lifecycle management.
- Implement structured patching, upgrade and capacity planning.
- Strengthen the organisation's cyber security posture.
- Define and implement infrastructure architecture standards.
- Ensure solutions are supportable, secure and fully documented.
- Align infrastructure design with operational support capabilities.
- Promote consistency, governance and best practice across all technology services.
- Build strong governance frameworks for third‑party suppliers.
- Hold vendors accountable through structured performance reviews and service management.
- Ensure technical standards are reflected within supplier contracts.
- Work collaboratively with partners on infrastructure upgrades, migrations and remediation programmes.
