Position Overview
Vehicle Maintenance Technician – Leicester. The role involves performing scheduled servicing, fault diagnosis, and repairs on a mixed fleet of vehicles within a global express transportation company.
Working Hours & Compensation
40 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern: week one 06:00‑14:30 Mon‑Fri, week two 12:30‑21:00 Mon‑Fri. Base salary £21.70 per hour plus shift allowance.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled servicing, fault diagnosis and repairs on company fleet vehicles and trailers to ensure safety, legal compliance and operational readiness.
- Complete signed service and inspection records, defect reports and all required paperwork to meet legal requirements.
- Prepare vehicles and trailers for annual MOT testing to ensure first‑time pass.
- Execute ad‑hoc vehicle repairs, investigate and rectify vehicle defects.
Qualifications & Skills
- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent qualification.
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
- Valid Class 2 driving licence and ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy vehicle components.
- Experience with welding, D.C. electrical troubleshooting and use of automotive equipment and testing tools.
- Knowledge of LGV or candamp;E licence (class one) is desirable.
