A Maintenance Engineer is required on a permanent, full-time basis in Leicester, with a salary between £28,000 and £35,000 per annum. This day-shift role involves joining a well-established manufacturing firm and focuses on keeping production equipment running safely and efficiently to minimise downtime and enhance reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across a range of production machinery and equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs safely and effectively
- Replace and repair mechanical components
- Support installation, commissioning and improvement projects for new and existing equipment
- Complete maintenance records accurately using the company's maintenance system
- Work closely with production teams to identify recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures and company standards
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve machine reliability and overall site performance
- Previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer or in a similar maintenance position
- A recognised engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent
- A strong mechanical bias with experience maintaining manufacturing or production machinery
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills within a manufacturing or production environment
- Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance on industrial machinery
- Good knowledge of mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes and bearings
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- A proactive approach with excellent organisation and time-management skills
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Basic electrical fault-finding experience would be advantageous but is not essential
- 28 days holiday including bank holidays
