A Depot Operative is required to join a busy depot in Kilsyth.
Offered on a full‑time, temp‑to‑perm basis at £14.79 per hour, the role involves maintenance, refurbishment and fit‑out of depot buildings and yard areas.
Working 39 hours a week, Monday to Thursday 08:00–16:30 and Friday 08:00–15:30, the post holder will ensure facilities meet current standards and regulatory requirements, supporting operations through a safe, efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Place health and safety as the highest priority at all times
- Complete work to a high standard and identify failures to prevent recurrence
- Support depot operations as required
- Minimise the environmental impact of depot operations
- Record water meter readings and provide monthly readings to the manager
- Monitor skips and arrange emptying when required
- Assist with depot maintenance and utilities
- Complete workplace risk assessments before work begins
- Operate plant safely, where authorised and required
- Supervise the return of site materials to the depot, including unloading and positioning
- Carry out weekly workshop fire alarm checks
- Check the suitability and condition of depot drains
- Ensure drain spill traps are fit for purpose
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date depot signage
- Arrange and supervise subcontractors, ensuring RAMS meet required standards
- Monitor depot road conditions and arrange repairs where necessary
- Allocate maintenance costs correctly
- Complete other duties as requested by the line manager, in line with training and competence
What do you bring to the role?
- Clean driving licence preferred
- Experience in plumbing, joinery, decorating and electrical work
- Ability to multitask and prioritise a busy workload
- Enthusiastic team player
- Highly professional and positive attitude
- Slinger/signaller experience preferred
- CPCS qualifications in various categories preferred
- AP qualification considered
