Location: Aberdeen

Hybrid - Office attendance required for a minimum of two weeks in every four-week period.

Rate: £50-£60 per hour, dependent on experience.

Duration: 12 month contract

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and modify ABB 800xA control system applications.
  • Develop and maintain control strategies using Function Designer and Structured Text.
  • Configure and support AC800M controllers.
  • Perform database engineering and bulk configuration using Bulk Data Manager.
  • Support control system upgrades, migrations and system enhancements.
  • Produce and review functional design specifications and technical documentation.
  • Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and commissioning activities where required.
  • Diagnose and resolve software, hardware and communications issues.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, process engineers and commissioning teams to deliver project milestones.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with company standards, quality procedures and applicable safety regulations.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years' experience working with ABB Distributed Control Systems.
  • Extensive experience with ABB 800xA.
  • Strong knowledge of AC800M controllers.
  • Proficient in Function Designer programming.
  • Experience programming using Structured Text.
  • Experience using Bulk Data Manager.
  • Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership within a project team.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience with MOD300 systems.
  • Experience with AC450 controllers.
  • Knowledge of ABB Safeguard safety systems.
  • Previous experience delivering ABB controller upgrade and migration projects.
  • Experience working in regulated process industries such as energy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, water or oil & gas.
