Job Description
I'm looking for a Head of Fire Engineering to join an award-winning fire protection business that has office locations nationwide (Huddersfield, Sheffield, Harlow and Swindon), to build and lead their growing Fire Engineering Consultancy.
The role is split between home, customer sites and irregular office visits, so they are considering applicants from anywhere in the UK.
What you'll be doing:
- Develop and lead a growing consultancy team in line with business strategic goals
- Lead and contribute to the growth and development of their consultancy services
- Provide expert guidance as subject matter expert and peer review across all consultancy projects
- Ensure compliance with the main British fire safety legislation and standards applied to buildings, such as Approved Document B (AD B), BS9999, BS7974
- Ensure compliance with Building Safety Act, Gateways 1-3 and secondary legislation . i.e. Higher Risk Buildings
- Drive for technical excellence in all our consultancy services
- Build strong relationships with new and existing clients. Client relationship management. Win work
- Identify, prepare and present technical proposals to meet the client's brief & milestones
- Support your line manager with business development activities
- Recruit, mentor and lead a high performing team of fire engineers and consultants
- Implement training pathways for junior members of the team
- Support your line manager to set commercial targets, forecasting, budgeting and pricing policy's
- Work with your line manager and COO to build and lead a strong technical consultancy with a strong timesheet culture, high consultancy utilisation, limited overheads, strong focus on quality and a strong process for deliverable review and approval
- Identify new service opportunities
Experience Required:
- 10+ Fire Engineering experience
- 5+ years in a Senior/Principal Fire Engineering Consultancy role
- In depth knowledge of UK fire legislation
- Proven experience in managing multi-disciplinary consultancy projects
- Client relationship management experience
Qualifications:
- MSc/BSc Fire Engineering/Fire Safety Engineering
- Member grade of the IFE
- CEng or Eng or working towards
The salary is £90,000 to £120,000 plus car allowance and annual bonus.
