Role Overview

This role involves supporting financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities. You will manage programme budget baselines using standard templates, updating them as new components are scoped. Monitoring spend and the forecasted estimate at complete (EAC) is key, alongside reviewing actuals, calculating variances, and escalating anomalies. The role also supports the monthly risk‑management process and uses programme information to generate forecasts for sales, EBIT, and cash. The salary ranges from£28,000 to£35,000 per annum, plus benefits including pension, holidays, and sick pay.

Responsibilities

  • Manage programme budget baselines using standard templates, updating them as new components are scoped.
  • Monitor spend and the forecasted estimate at complete (EAC), reviewing actuals, calculating variances, and escalating anomalies.
  • Support the monthly risk‑management process.
  • Use programme information to generate forecasts for sales, EBIT, and cash on a monthly basis and support the Long‑Range Plan cycle.
  • Verify that business controls and processes are being followed and ensure audit trails to maintain the integrity of our financial data.
  • Support the annual audit.
  • Provide ongoing financial support to the Programme Management Team: answer queries and help with the pre‑planning of programme activities while documenting assumptions.
  • Attend and present the financial position at Internal Programme Reviews – preparing concise slide decks, highlighting variances and addressing any stakeholder questions.
  • Run routine financial reports (dashboards, variance reports, staffing reports) and respond to ad‑hoc reporting or analysis requests from senior leadership or the Programme Management Office.
  • Exercise judgement and problem‑solving skills independently to ensure compliance with objectives and standards.
  • Analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts; prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Assist in budgeting and financial planning processes; monitor business performance and identify variances from targets.
  • Conduct financial modeling and profitability analysis; support investment, pricing and cost‑reduction initiatives.
  • Collect, validate and interpret financial data from multiple sources; prepare presentations and reports for senior management.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with financial policies and regulations; collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support business objectives.

Qualifications

  • 1–3years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements and accounting principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with financial planning tools, ERP systems or business intelligence platforms is an advantage.
