Position Details
Food Technology Teacher β Full-time, long-term, starting September 2026 at an Ofsted-rated Good secondary school in Birmingham. Contract pays Β£175βΒ£250 per day.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, practical lessons across KS3 and KS4, specialising in Food Preparation & Nutrition.
- Support students in developing culinary, nutritional, and technical skills and understanding of food science.
- Prepare students for coursework, assessments and exams.
- Monitor and record student progress.
- Maintain a safe and organised classroom environment in line with health and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Design Technology department on curriculum planning and resources.
Candidate requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required; ECTs welcome.
- Experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level, particularly Food Preparation & Nutrition across KS3 & KS4.
- Experience in Resistant Materials is desirable but not essential.
- Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
- Passion for practical learning and a commitment to raising student achievement.
