Based in Esher, this full-time role carries a salary from £35,000, dependent on experience. You will oversee monitoring, maintenance, and repair across three sites, handling routine operational tasks and cleaning. Process optimisation for efficiency and compliance is central, alongside SCADA system oversight and computerised record-keeping. You will proactively resolve failures, manage asset faults directly or through escalation, and support junior colleagues’ development. This position suits a hands-on professional with strong technical aptitude and leadership qualities, capable of working independently across multiple locations. The role demands a systematic approach to reporting and a commitment to maintaining high operational standards.

As a senior member of the team, you will conduct a full range of monitoring, maintenance, operations and repair work across three sites on the wastewater treatment assets. This will include:

  • Routine operational maintenance and cleaning tasks
  • Maintaining a variety of records and reports related to wastewater system operations
  • Operating computers for process control
  • Monitoring the SCADA system

You will optimise processes to maximise efficiency and compliance. Taking the initiative to resolve process failures and manage asset maintenance and faults: directly or via escalation. As a senior member of the team, you will also be expected to support and develop other team members.

Responsibilities include:

  • Taking responsibility for three operating sites in line with environmental permits to protect the environment
  • General maintenance of equipment and site, taking effluent samples to monitor and improve biological performance
  • Undertaking both reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms and fault finding to identify issues
  • Record work and asset information to improve business performance
  • Identifying possible future risks and recommending changes
  • Ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of myself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors
  • Delivering an excellent customer experience and positively contributing to overall customer satisfaction
  • Interacting with all customers (internal & external) in a timely, professional, efficient, respectful and polite manner
  • Working collaboratively with business units/departments to identify improvement opportunities

Base location – Esher Sewage Treatment Works, with hybrid working at two other sites, Leatherhead and Weybridge. Working hours – 36 hours Monday to Friday, with a 6-weekly on-call rota. Salary – From £35,000 depending on skills and experience + additional payments for the 6-weekly on-call rota. Van – You will be provided with a company van.
