Overview The Employment Solicitor (Head of Department) position in Birmingham offers leadership of a well-established practice within a national law firm.

This full-time role involves managing a team advising employers on contentious and non-contentious matters, working with national and international businesses, public sector bodies, and senior executives to provide strategic direction.

Responsibilities Lead the Birmingham employment team, advising on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters for employers, including day-to-day HR issues, disciplinary and grievance matters, redundancy and restructuring programmes, discrimination and whistleblowing claims, TUPE, restrictive covenants, and Employment Tribunal litigation.

Provide commercially focused advice to national and international businesses, owner-managed companies, public sector organisations, and senior executives.

Collaborate with colleagues across corporate, commercial, and regulatory teams on the employment aspects of mergers, acquisitions and business restructures.

Develop and manage client relationships, drive business development initiatives, mentor the team, and contribute to the firm’s wider national employment strategy.

The Candidate Experienced Employment Solicitor with a proven track record advising employer clients on complex matters.

Open to Partners, Legal Directors and ambitious Senior Associates seeking a leadership role.

Excellent technical ability, strong commercial awareness, and a genuine passion for building long-term client relationships.

Experience supervising and developing lawyers, with appetite for business development and practice growth.
