Pertemps Edinburgh Contracts seeks a Cook for schools and care homes across Edinburgh. This temporary role offers 24 to 36 hours weekly, with ad hoc shifts also available, paying £14.27 per hour. Duties include preparing fresh, nutritious meals daily, cooking in advance for weekend service, ordering supplies, managing stock, recording temperatures and upholding food safety and hygiene standards.

Candidates must hold a PVG Certificate for Children, or both Children and Adults; new applications cost £59 or £18 to update an existing one, paid by the successful applicant. Background checks apply. The assignment is ongoing, with potential for a permanent post.

Cook Schools and Care Homes Location: Edinburgh – Various locations. Hours: 24–36 hours per week available (adhoc opportunities also available). Pay Rate: £14.27 per hour. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals each day.
• Prepare meals in advance for weekend service.
• Order food supplies and manage stock levels.
• Complete temperature checks and maintain food safety records.
• Carry out daily kitchen hygiene and compliance checks.
• Ensure the kitchen is clean, organised and ready for each service.
• Cater for a range of dietary, cultural and religious requirements.

The Successful Candidate Should

• Have previous experience working as a Cook or Chef.
• Be reliable, organised and able to work independently.
• Have a good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
• Be confident managing stock and placing food orders.
• Have experience catering for a variety of dietary requirements (desirable).
